Catenaa, Thursday, February 20 – The Sandbox, the social gaming metaverse, has launched a significant update to its Game Maker platform, aimed at providing creators with enhanced tools for crafting immersive, multiplayer experiences. The update introduces new pre-made templates, dynamic libraries, and expanded multiplayer mechanics, alongside deeper integration with global brands.
Game Maker . empowers creators to build faster and more creatively, offering tools like partner assets from iconic brands such as The Smurfs, Chupa Chups, Atari, and Care Bears. This allows creators to bring renowned properties into their custom-built environments, whether it’s a Smurfs village or an Atari universe. The new system makes collaborating with brands easier, expanding creative possibilities for user-generated content (UGC) in the metaverse.
Improvements to multiplayer features focus on racing mechanics and more dynamic interactions, with new movement palettes, smarter NPCs, and customizable HUDs. Enhanced character animations, avatar silhouettes, and responsive camera systems ensure that gameplay is smoother and more immersive.
As part of the launch, The Sandbox is hosting its Builders Challenge, a six-week program designed to reward creators with SAND tokens based on player engagement. The update also hints at future enhancements, including competitive game modes, new combat systems, and expanded traversal options like vehicles.
The Sandbox is available for free on Windows and Mac, with the Game Maker and Game Client enabling users to build and play immersive experiences.
