In Summary

  • Aztec debuts StealthNote for anonymous, verified disclosures.

  • Uses zero-knowledge proofs with Gmail for identity-free proof.

  • Future updates to include Slack, Microsoft SSO, ZKpassport.

  • Aims to support whistleblowers, journalists, and activists.

Catenaa, Saturday, April 19, 2025-Aztec Network developers have unveiled a new privacy tool, StealthNote, aimed at enabling anonymous disclosures by verifying corporate affiliation without compromising user identity.

The platform, announced Tuesday, employs zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to allow individuals to confirm they have access to a corporate email account without revealing their name or full credentials. Using Google’s sign-in function, the tool extracts data from JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) to prove access while preserving anonymity.

“Got the inside scoop on a shady company but don’t want to doxx yourself? StealthNote lets you share alpha while staying anonymous,” Aztec developer Saleel Pichen wrote on X.

Currently, StealthNote supports only Gmail-based accounts, but Aztec developers plan to expand to Microsoft and other Single Sign-On services. Future updates could include integrations with Slack and systems like ZKpassport, allowing users to prove residency or group membership without disclosing personal information.

StealthNote operates using Aztec’s NoirLang circuits and the Ethereum-based Layer 2’s zero-knowledge cryptography infrastructure. ZKPs, a cornerstone of blockchain privacy advancements, allow selective disclosure of information without exposing its source.

The tool could have broader implications for whistleblowers, investigative journalists, and activists needing anonymous but verifiable channels to expose misconduct.

Aztec Network, a privacy-focused Ethereum scaling solution, previously raised $100 million in a Series B round led by a16z in 2022. The company is part of a growing movement to advance secure and private applications on the blockchain, with tools like StealthNote potentially reshaping how sensitive information is shared online.
