In Summary

  • X to introduce in-app trading and investment tools in the U.S.
  • Features to include Visa-backed wallet, potential debit/credit cards
  • Crypto integration expected due to Lightning tipping and price tracking
  • Move advances Musk’s goal to make X a Western-style super app

Catenaa, Friday, June 27, 2025- Elon Musk’s X is set to introduce in-app trading and investment features, deepening the company’s push to become a full-service super app akin to China’s WeChat.

According to the Financial Times, the move will form part of the X Money service, which already includes a Visa-backed digital wallet enabling real-time transfers between user bank accounts and in-app balances.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the new offerings would include investments and trading, with the possibility of X-branded debit or credit cards. The services will debut in the United States, where the company is actively securing money-transmitter licenses across all 50 states.

While Yaccarino did not clarify which asset classes would be supported, the platform’s current integration of real-time crypto price tracking and Bitcoin Lightning Network tipping has raised expectations that digital currencies may be included in the rollout.

Musk has long aimed to transform X—formerly Twitter—into an all-in-one platform combining social networking, payments, and financial services. His ambition to build a Western version of WeChat has seen X steadily expand its financial footprint since his $44 billion acquisition of the company in 2022.

Visa’s involvement and existing partnerships with blockchain firms further suggest that digital assets could play a central role in X’s investment tools. The company’s regulatory progress and fintech integrations are seen as essential steps toward achieving Musk’s goal of embedding seamless commerce within the platform.

X Money was launched in January and is already positioned as a core component of Musk’s long-term financial strategy.
