New York, Tuesday, October 01, 2024 – Blockchain-based identity verification platform Worldcoin has expanded its World ID services to Guatemala, Malaysia, and Poland as of Wednesday, September 25.

The move aims to address the growing demand for secure online identity verification amid concerns over AI-driven fraud. Worldcoin’s expansion follows increasing digital threats worldwide, including the rising prevalence of bots and automated systems posing as human users.

In Guatemala, the World ID service is now available in Guatemala City, where residents aged 18 and over can verify their identities through the World App. The service also provides users in Malaysia and Poland with similar secure methods to protect their digital identities. By scheduling appointments via the World App, residents can complete the verification process, enhancing their online safety.

To further boost security, Worldcoin introduced a new Face Auth feature, which uses private, on-device facial recognition to ensure that only verified users can access their World App wallets. The Face Auth process involves users taking a selfie, which is then compared to the image captured during the initial verification by the orb. This extra layer of protection aims to combat fraudulent access.

Currently in its pilot phase, the Face Auth feature is being tested in select locations before a broader rollout. Alongside this, Worldcoin has released a privacy whitepaper outlining its commitment to transparency and data protection, focusing on consent and user security.

With these recent expansions and features, Worldcoin is positioning itself as a key player in the fight against AI-driven fraud and digital threats.
