Catenaa, Friday, January 10, 2024 – South Korean gaming giant WeMade said it was expanding its blockchain footprint with new products and decentralized social communities, signaling a pivotal shift for 2025.
In a New Year’s address, CEO Park Kwan-ho emphasized blockchain as central to the company’s strategy, leveraging its success in gaming to fuel global expansion.
WeMade plans to launch new games like Dismins War and Midnight Walkers alongside its highly anticipated MMORPG, Legend of Imir.
The firm’s blockchain gaming platform, WeMixPlay, continues to grow, with plans to onboard developers and expand its game catalog.
Meanwhile, WePublic, its decentralized community initiative, seeks to foster collaboration through blockchain transparency.
WeMade’s flagship game, Night Crows, achieved notable success in 2024, setting the stage for further growth. A $100 million Web3 fund launched in partnership with Singapore-based Whampoa Digital underscores its global ambitions.
However, regulatory challenges loom. In 2024, the Financial Intelligence Unit investigated WeMade over unregistered crypto services, following a $41 million tax bill in 2023.
Despite setbacks, Park remains optimistic, positioning blockchain as a bridge between gaming and real-life applications, aiming to redefine trust-driven gaming communities globally.
