Singapore, Thursday, November 30– The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a partnership with the Algorand Foundation to equip over 22,000 UNDP employees globally with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in blockchain technology.1
The partnership aims to leverage the transformative potential of blockchain for sustainable development and accelerate the implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The collaboration will see the launch of the Algorand Blockchain Academy in 2024. This dedicated educational program will offer recorded lectures, interactive workshops, and hands-on assignments, making it accessible to all UNDP employees in over 170 countries and territories. Additionally, staff members from other UN agencies will be invited to participate.
The training program will focus on several key areas to harness the potential of blockchain technology. Firstly, it aims to leverage blockchain for financial inclusion by extending financial services to marginalized communities, contributing to inclusive economic growth.
Another focus is on enhancing transparency in supply chains through blockchain, addressing issues like child labor, and promoting sustainable sourcing practices.
Additionally, the training will explore real-world asset tokenization, enabling fractional ownership to broaden investment accessibility and democratize access to capital. Another crucial aspect involves developing secure and universal digital identity solutions to support social and financial inclusion, particularly in underserved regions.
