Toyota Pushes Blockchain Innovation to Transform Vehicle Ownership

In Summary

  • Toyota develops blockchain-based Trust Chain for vehicle data verification.
  • Mobility Orchestration Network consolidates legal, technical, and economic proofs.
  • MOA framework supports tokenized vehicle ownership and real-time data.
  • Trust Gateway bridges physical and digital assets for global adoption.

Catenaa, Friday, September 05, 2025- Toyota is advancing the use of blockchain to digitalize vehicle ownership, positioning cars as real-world assets capable of generating continuous value beyond transportation, a report said.1

Toyota’s Blockchain Lab is developing the “Trust Chain” concept to systematically record and verify vehicle registration, insurance, and maintenance history, aiming to streamline data verification across institutional barriers.

Building on last year’s “Mobility-Centered Account (MOA),” Toyota unveiled the “Mobility Orchestration Network (MON)” in 2025, a protocol-based system designed to connect fragmented data environments across organizations, industries, and countries.

MON consolidates legally, technically, and economically verified vehicle information on the blockchain.

Its three verification categories include institutional proof for legal compliance, technical proof covering manufacturing and sensor data, and economic proof for operational performance and maintenance history.

MON is implemented on the Avalanche blockchain, utilizing multiple chains—Trust, Capital, Utility, and Stablecoin and linked through Avalanche’s Interchain Messaging system.

The MOA framework divides data storage between T-MOA for institutional and economic proofs, and U-MOA for real-time driving data and driver authentication.

Toyota is exploring tokenizing vehicles as NFTs, with the potential to evolve them into liquid assets.

To enable secure bridging between physical and digital assets, Toyota introduced the “Trust Gateway,” integrating decentralized oracles, verifiable credentials, and trusted third parties.

This infrastructure supports global adoption while maintaining compatibility with existing systems. Toyota’s approach reflects the growing recognition of vehicles as real-world assets, aiming to create a liquid, transparent, and globally distributed mobility ecosystem powered by blockchain.
