Spot Ethereum ETFs Gain Traction as Franklin Templeton Lists Proposed Fund  featured

NEW YORK, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 – The prospects of spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is heating up following Franklin Templeton listing a proposed Ethereum ETF under the ticker symbol “EZET” on the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC). 1

The move follows Franklin Templeton’s application for the “Franklin Ethereum ETF” filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in February.

The DTCC listing signifies the fund’s creation and readiness for potential trading, but final approval still rests with the SEC.

The SEC has been cautious regarding spot Bitcoin ETFs, and the future of Ethereum-based funds remains unclear.

However, experts believe that if approved, the Franklin Templeton ETF would likely attract institutional investors and experienced retail investors seeking exposure to Ethereum within a regulated framework.

The listing by Franklin Templeton highlights the growing interest in spot Ethereum ETFs. These funds would directly hold Ethereum tokens, unlike futures-based ETFs, potentially offering a more transparent and efficient way for investors to gain exposure to the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency.
