Catenaa, Wednesday, January 5, 2025 – Sony Block Solutions Labs reached a new milestone, launching its own L2 Ethereum network as Soneium on January 13.

The new network allows users to participate in the Soneium Spark funding program, particularly aimed at startups.

Soneium, at its core, would support creative individuals to interact with the audience, initiating a wide range of digital content, including DeFi apps and gaming services.

Soneium is being developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, the subsidiary of Sony, the Japanese multinational corporation, and is built on Optimism’s OP Stack.

The joint project of a Sony subsidiary and Startale Labs resulted in Soneium, the general-purpose blockchain platform, reports read.

The initiative was followed by four months of testing, working with 14 million wallets.

The network is designed with user-friendly infrastructure, rapid transactions, and low-cost service.

Base, Ink, and Uniswap are a few of the leading crypto exchanges that are operated on the Op Stack to run its L2 networks, reports said.
