Catenaa, Monday, May 26, 2025- UK-based digital banking giant Revolut announced plans to invest more than €1 billion ($1.1 billion) in France over the next three years as part of its strategy to deepen its European footprint.

The fintech company also revealed it is preparing to apply for a French banking licence, a move welcomed by French regulators.

The announcement came Monday at the Choose France business summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron.

Revolut will establish its Western European headquarters in Paris and plans to hire at least 200 employees during the investment period.

France is now Revolut’s largest user base within the European Union, with about 5 million customers and 300 employees.

The company aims to double its French user base to 10 million by 2026 and reach 20 million by 2030. Revolut currently offers loans, cryptocurrency services, and trading products to French clients.

Founded in 2015, Revolut has grown into a global fintech powerhouse with 55 million customers and roughly 10,000 employees. The firm reported $4.1 billion in revenue last year and was last valued at about $45 billion.

While holding a restricted UK banking licence and a full European licence through Lithuania, Revolut is seeking banking permissions in 10 more countries, including France. The company has recently expanded operations in India, Mexico, and across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Revolut has also developed its crypto trading platform, Revolut X, targeting UK retail customers with low fees and easy access to over 100 tokens. The firm continues to expand its crypto offerings and partnerships globally.
