Catenaa, Wednesday, May 13, 2025-Playtron, a gaming operating system, has unveiled Game Dollar, a new programmable stablecoin developed in partnership with M0 and Bridge.
The stablecoin is designed to enhance purchases, subscriptions, and rewards within gaming ecosystems.
Game Dollar will serve as the digital currency on Playtron’s Linux-based GameOS, which aims to bridge the fragmented gaming world by unifying mobile, PC, and console experiences.
By integrating the stablecoin into its operating system, Playtron seeks to simplify and improve in-game economies that are often siloed.
The announcement, made at Sui Basecamp in Dubai last week, highlighted Game Dollar’s role in the upcoming SuiPlay0X1, a handheld console set to offer payment and reward features across existing PC games, as well as new titles built on the Sui blockchain.
Pre-orders for SuiPlay have already sold out, with the $599 consoles slated for release later this year.
Playtron’s co-founder and CEO, Kirt McMaster, expressed excitement about the potential of Game Dollar to revolutionize the gaming economy.
Initially, Game Dollar will be launched on the Sui blockchain, known for its speed and low transaction costs, which make it ideal for gaming applications. Mysten Labs, the creators of Sui, emphasize the evolution of programmable stablecoins as a way to create self-sustaining digital economies.
M0’s chain-agnostic platform and Bridge’s payment APIs enable the launch of Game Dollar, making payments and rewards in gaming seamless and inclusive.
The stablecoin is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
