SINGAPORE, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 – A technical glitch affecting the OKX cryptocurrency exchange’s API caused widespread confusion among users in late March. 1

OKX announced this on its Telegram channel as well as on the X platform.

Reports said that the issue resulted in inaccurate account balance displays for many of users in Singapore, Japan, and the United States.

According to reports on the OKX Telegram channel, users experienced a range of discrepancies, with some accounts showing zero balances and others displaying inflated balances reaching tens of millions.

OKX issued a statement via Telegram acknowledging the API glitch and emphasized that the issue was limited to the API and did not affect the actual user funds held on the exchange.

The exchange’s website, mobile app, and WebSocket functionality remained unaffected.

Despite these assurances, the glitch has caused concern within the user base and led to a 2.21% decline in the value of OKX’s native token, OKB, which was trading at $64.59, some reports said.
