Catenaa, Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – Offchain Labs, the primary developer behind Ethereum Layer 2 Arbitrum, has launched Onchain Labs, a new initiative aimed at supporting decentralized application development within the Arbitrum ecosystem.

Announced in partnership with the Arbitrum Foundation, Onchain Labs will provide technical and strategic guidance to early-stage developers, leveraging Arbitrum’s rapid transaction speeds and developer-friendly features such as Stylus. The initiative is designed to foster innovation while prioritizing fair and community-aligned project launches.

“Onchain Labs will offer hands-on collaboration from ideation to product launch,” Offchain Labs stated in a Monday release. The team also cautioned that some supported projects may be experimental in nature.

The first Onchain Labs-backed project will be unveiled soon, the company said. Offchain Labs, which launched Arbitrum One in 2021, has developed key technologies such as the AnyTrust chain and Orbit for permissionless deployments. The company also acquired Ethereum client Prysm in 2022.

Offchain Labs is actively working on increasing network throughput through alternative clients, integrating zero-knowledge proofs, and improving the overall user experience for Arbitrum-based applications.

In recent developments, the company announced a “strategic purchase plan” to accumulate ARB, the native token of the Arbitrum ecosystem, as part of its treasury strategy.
