Catenaa, Monday, July 07, 2025 –Nvidia has overtaken Microsoft to become the world’s most valuable company, marking a milestone in the global race for AI supremacy.
The chipmaker’s market capitalization surged to $3.92 trillion, surpassing Microsoft’s $3.7 trillion and Apple’s $3.19 trillion, buoyed by Wall Street’s confidence in its pivotal role in artificial intelligence development.
The company’s high-end GPUs are now central to the training of large AI models, positioning Nvidia as the bedrock of the generative AI era.
The sharp rise in valuation has also boosted the personal wealth of its co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang, whose net worth has climbed to $139 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.
Despite this, Huang still ranks behind former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who sits in fifth place globally with $172 billion. Ballmer’s fortune has expanded by $25.5 billion this year, edging past Huang’s $25 billion gain.
Nvidia’s ascent from a $500 billion market cap in 2021 to nearly $4 trillion today reflects the company’s rapid transformation from gaming graphics pioneer to AI hardware powerhouse.
Analysts, including Wedbush’s Dan Ives, forecast that Nvidia and Microsoft may soon be the first companies to hit the $4 trillion valuation mark, possibly as early as this summer.
The chipmaker’s latest processors have become indispensable across AI labs and tech giants, reinforcing its dominance and investor enthusiasm in the expanding AI arms race.
