Catenaa, Wednesday, May 28, 2025-Nvidia announced plans Monday to build one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputers in Taiwan, alongside a new headquarters in Taipei.
The project, revealed at the Computex trade show, includes over 10,000 of Nvidia’s next-generation Blackwell GPUs, to be hosted at Taiwan’s National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC).
CEO Jensen Huang said the company is partnering with Taiwan’s government and Foxconn’s Big Innovation Group for the supercomputer’s construction.
The system aims to support Taiwan’s leading academic institutions and chip giant TSMC, a key Nvidia partner.
Huang also unveiled concept footage of Nvidia’s upcoming “Constellation” headquarters in Taipei’s Beitou district, describing the design as resembling a spacecraft. The expansion reflects Nvidia’s growing operations in Taiwan despite ongoing U.S.-China trade tensions and pressures to localize manufacturing.
The supercomputer will deliver more than eight times the AI performance of the existing Taiwania 2 system, featuring advanced HGX H200 nodes, Blackwell Ultra-based B300 systems, and NVL72 racks connected by Nvidia’s Quantum InfiniBand networking.
It will support sovereign AI projects like TAIDE, which powers multilingual chatbots and healthcare tools, and Taiwan AI RAP, a generative AI platform. The system will also advance research in quantum computing, climate modeling, and epidemic prevention.
This announcement follows Nvidia’s $500 billion investment pledge in U.S. infrastructure amid escalating trade tensions. The company also recently agreed to supply Saudi Arabia with Blackwell GPUs for the state-backed AI firm Humain’s large data center.
Nvidia shares traded slightly up at $135.40 following the news.
