Catenaa, Monday, August 04, 2025-Japanese bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet purchased 463 BTC for $53.7 million, lifting its total holdings to 17,595 BTC, the company disclosed Monday.
The firm’s bitcoin portfolio is valued at about $1.78 billion, with an average acquisition price of $101,422 per coin.
CEO Simon Gerovich said the latest purchase averaged $115,895 per bitcoin and is part of a plan to steadily grow bitcoin-per-share value. The company recently filed to raise up to 555 billion yen ($3.7 billion) through perpetual preferred shares to support its ongoing bitcoin acquisition strategy.
With 17,595 BTC, Metaplanet remains the seventh-largest corporate holder worldwide, behind Strategy, MARA, XXI, Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company, Riot, and Trump Media, according to Bitcointreasuries data.
Shares of Metaplanet fell 4.7% in Monday trading in Tokyo, even as bitcoin rose 0.8% in 24 hours to $114,645 after a weekend decline.
The company continues to pursue an aggressive “Bitcoin standard” approach, using multiple capital-raising tools to expand its digital asset reserves, while navigating volatility that frequently pressures crypto-related equities.
