Catenaa, Saturday, March 29, 2025- Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has added 150 more bitcoin, worth $12.6 million, days after appointing Eric Trump to its Strategic Board of Advisors. 

The Tokyo-listed company announced Monday that it purchased the bitcoin at an average price of $83,801 per BTC, bringing its total holdings to 3,350 BTC—currently valued at $291.3 million. CEO Simon Gerovich said Trump’s “business expertise and passion for BTC” would help drive Metaplanet’s goal of becoming a leading Bitcoin treasury company. 

Metaplanet has been aggressively accumulating bitcoin since launching its BTC adoption strategy in April 2024. The firm aims to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026. It is currently the 10th largest public bitcoin holder globally and the largest in Asia, according to Bitcointreasuries.net. 

The company’s stock rose 4.8% on Japan’s exchanges and has surged 38.7% since the beginning of the year, according to Google Finance data.
