New York, NY Monday, August 15 – The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) is expected to launch a new experience in late 2023 in the Metaverse.

According to reports, this would be in partnership with Roblox, a popular online gaming platform launched in late 2003. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the British Museum have already experimented with the metaverse. MET announced its plans to launch a new experience in the Metaverse in partnership with Roblox on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. The experience is expected to be launched in late 2023, so it will likely be available between October and December.

Users will be able to explore the museum’s galleries, learn about the art on display, and even interact with some of the works. The experience will be accessible to users of all ages and is free. The MET’s expansion into the Metaverse is nothing new given the developments taking place in the web. The Metaverse platform is rapidly growing with a large user base. Museums are also starting to see the potential of the Metaverse to reach new audiences and create new experiences.

The Metaverse is still in its early stages of development, but it has the potential to change the way people experience art, among other things.

Museums that are able to embrace the Metaverse early on will be well-positioned to reach new audiences and create new forms of engagement, experts opined.

The MET’s move into the Metaverse is seen as a significant development for the museum and the art world, It shows that museums are willing to adopt technologies and that they are compelled to make art accessible to everyone.

“We are always looking to reach new audiences and find new, creative ways to engage with art,” Ken Weine, senior vice president of external affairs at The MET, told the Decrypt website recently.1
