Catenaa, Saturday, February 15, 2025 – Rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West, now known as Ye, said he turned down a $2 million offer to promote a fraudulent crypto scheme targeting his fan base. West disclosed the alleged scam in a post on X, claiming he was asked to share a crypto promotion with his 32.6 million followers and later deny involvement by stating his account was hacked.
“I was proposed 2 million dollars to scam my community. Those left of it. I said no and stopped working with the person who proposed it,” West wrote.
According to West, the deal included an upfront payment of $750,000 for an eight-hour post, followed by an additional $1.25 million payout if the promotion remained live for 16 hours.
A screenshot he shared revealed the scammers intended to launch a “fake Ye currency.”
West later posted an exchange in which he asked for a “crypto connect” without intermediaries, prompting speculation about his motives.
Some industry voices praised him for rejecting the offer, while others suggested he might be stirring publicity ahead of an album release.
The revelation comes amid a surge in celebrity-linked crypto projects, many of which have sparked controversy.
Recently, internet personality Hailey Welch distanced herself from the HAWK memecoin after it crashed 91% in a single day.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump’s Official Trump (TRUMP) token plummeted 38% shortly after launch, coinciding with First Lady Melania Trump’s release of a competing coin.
