Catenaa, Tuesday, July 1, 2025-Nobitex, Iran’s largest crypto exchange, has begun restoring user wallet access following a cyberattack earlier this month that siphoned over $90 million in digital assets.
The Tehran-based platform said the recovery will proceed in stages, starting with verified users and spot wallets.
The phased reactivation is tied to identity verification and data checks. Nobitex advised users not to send funds to previously issued wallet addresses, warning that such transfers could result in irreversible losses due to a full system migration.
Users with automated systems like mining rigs were urged to update configurations and await newly assigned wallet addresses.
The security breach, claimed by the pro-Israel hacking group Predatory Sparrow, prompted intervention by the Central Bank of Iran. In response, authorities imposed new regulations requiring all crypto exchanges to operate only between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., a move aimed at reducing exposure to after-hours cyberattacks.
The exploit, one of the most significant in Iran’s crypto sector, has rattled user trust and cast doubts on the resilience of the country’s digital infrastructure. Nobitex plays a central role in Iran’s crypto economy and the breach has fueled concerns over systemic vulnerability to international cyber threats.
Nobitex said resumption of withdrawals and trading services will continue “with minimal delay,” depending on technical conditions and compliance with enhanced security protocols.
