Catenaa, Thursday, September 11, 2025-Forbes has released its 44th annual Forbes 400 ranking, revealing that America’s 400 wealthiest billionaires now hold a record $6.6 trillion, up $1.2 trillion from last year.
The minimum net worth required to join the list rose to $3.8 billion, a new high.
Elon Musk retains the top position for the fourth consecutive year with an estimated $428 billion, becoming the first individual worth more than $400 billion on the Forbes 400. Larry Ellison ranks second, overtaking Jeff Bezos, who is fourth, while Mark Zuckerberg holds third place.
President Donald Trump climbed 118 spots to No. 201, with a net worth of $7.3 billion, up $3 billion from last year, largely due to gains from cryptocurrency ventures during his second presidential term.
Fourteen newcomers entered the list, including Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev, Dutch Bros Coffee’s Travis Boersma, and Surge AI’s Edwin Chen. AI-driven wealth creation also benefitted established billionaires such as Steve Ballmer and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
Women account for 62 of the 400 billionaires, slightly down from 67 last year.
Alice Walton remains the wealthiest woman, while Diane Hendricks is the richest self-made female billionaire. Overall, 71% of the list are self-made.
Forbes also assessed philanthropy, noting that three-quarters of members have given away less than 5% of their fortunes. High-profile figures such as Oprah Winfrey, LeBron James, and Taylor Swift did not meet the record-breaking threshold to make this year’s list.
