Mountain View, California – December 6, 2023 –Google has officially unveiled its latest and most powerful AI model – Gemini. 1
Dubbed by Google as “the most capable AI model ever created,” Gemini signifies a significant leap forward in the company’s AI ambitions and throws down the gauntlet in the heated global AI race.
“Gemini is the result of large-scale collaborative efforts by teams across Google, including our colleagues at Google Research,” wrote CEO Sundar Pichai in a blog post recently.
“It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalize and seamlessly understand, operate across and combine different types of information including text, code, audio, image and video.”
Google claims Gemini has achieved feats that surpass human capabilities, notably in outperforming humans in the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) benchmark test, excelling in 57 diverse subjects ranging from math and physics to history, law, medicine, and ethics.
Google also said that Gemini’s coding and writing capabilities further elevate its standing in the AI landscape.
It said that with its sophisticated code generation system, AlphaCode 2, Gemini outshines 85% of participants in coding competitions, a significant leap beyond its predecessor’s 50% success rate.
The introduction of Gemini is seen as intensifying of AI competition, driving further advancements and applications.
