NEW YORK, Thursday, January 18, 2024- Facing a rise of misinformation and deepfakes, FOX Corporation has teamed up with blockchain platform Polygon to launch “Verify,” a new tool designed to verify the origins and history of digital content, Polygon said in a press release on January 9. 1
Verify says it leverages Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain technology to create a digital ledger where media companies can register their content, granting usage rights and tracking its distribution.
Consumers can use Verify for various purposes, including checking the origin of articles and images.
By scanning any web content through the platform, users can determine if it’s registered with Verify and trace its origin back to the publisher, providing insights into the content’s source. Additionally, Verify empowers users to verify the authenticity of content by confirming whether it matches the registered version.
This functionality enables the detection of potential alterations or manipulations, enhancing users’ ability to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the information they encounter online.
Access additional information: View metadata attached to the content, such as publication date, author details, and any updates made by the publisher.
