Catenaa, Sunday, May 11, 2025-The Ethereum Foundation has overhauled its leadership and governance structure, formalizing the appointments of Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stańczak as co-executive directors, the organization announced last week.

The shake-up marks the departure of Aya Miyaguchi from her role as executive director. Miyaguchi will now serve as president. The move follows calls within the Ethereum community for greater transparency and technical leadership amid growing competition in the Layer 1 blockchain space.

Stańczak, founder of Nethermind, is set to serve a two-year term while continuing his work in infrastructure development. Hsiao-Wei Wang, a longtime Ethereum researcher, will act as a key liaison between the board and executive management.

The duo will focus on enhancing Ethereum’s scalability, particularly through improvements to the mainnet, Layer 2 interoperability, and the recently deployed blob storage system.

In a forum post, the foundation emphasized the need to improve user experience, streamline developer pathways, and enhance support for Ethereum-based applications.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin remains a board member and will provide technical and strategic guidance. The board also includes Josh Stark and Bastian Aue as co-stewards, tasked with overseeing operations, hiring, and marketing.

The foundation reiterated its mission to expand Ethereum’s user base while preserving its core values, including censorship resistance, decentralization, and privacy.
