Tuesday, September 10, 2024 – The restaking protocol EigenLayer is set to roll out its season 2 “stakedrop” on or before September 17, the Eigen Foundation blog announced on September 4.
The distribution of EIGEN tokens will be divided into three main categories: stakeholders and operators, ecosystem partners such as AVSs, LRTs, Rollups, and RaaS providers, and community members, while the allocation of EIGEN for each category would be 70 M EIGEN, 10 M EIGEN, and 6 M EIGEN, respectively.
The community members, such as open-source contributors and early advocates, are required to attach their wallet addresses to social handles prior to claiming EIGEN by September 11, the blog post read.
The direct stakers and ecosystem partners are eligible to claim their share of the tokens via the Eigen claims portal from September 17.
The strategic approach, stakedrop, will be unveiled in response to the recent outpouring of EigenLayer that resulted in TVL reduction.
EigenLayer’s launch of its native token along with its initial airdrop in May this year has spurred the 2nd season.
