Catenaa, Thursday, January 23, 2025 – Hacking groups based in North Korea have stolen over $659 million in cryptocurrency in numerous crypto-heists in 2024, reports said last week.

It is reported that hacking groups connected to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have targeted companies in the blockchain industry.

A joint statement issued by the US, South Korea, and Japan said that law enforcement had reported similar attacks by the DPRK hacking groups.

The report said that DPRK hackers had hacked DMM, Bitcoin, Upbit, and Radient Capital and had stolen about $10 million in 2024.

The Chainalysis report said that North Korean hacking groups have stolen $1.34 billion of crypto from 47 attacks in 2024.

In 2023, the FBI issued a notice to the international community to double-check background during recruiting workers in related fields.

US authorities had offered a reward of up to $5 million to informants who would help in the probe of North Korean crypto-attacking groups.
