Blockdaemon, a blockchain infrastructure firm headquartered in Los Angeles, announced a $50,000 donation to organizations like the Los Angeles Fire Department and Mutual Aid LA Network.
CEO Konstantin Richter called on other crypto leaders to join the effort, emphasizing the importance of community support during crises.
Ripple, based in San Francisco, pledged $100,000 worth of XRP through The Giving Block, a platform converting crypto donations into dollars for charities.
Beneficiaries include World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to first responders and evacuees, and GiveDirectly, which aids individuals in poverty. Ripple also recently partnered with MoonPay to donate $50,000 in its RLUSD stablecoin to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
The Giving Block has launched a campaign to raise $2 million for wildfire relief, supporting first responders, residents, and animals affected by the fires. The Blockchain Association is amplifying efforts by raising awareness for vetted charities aiding the region.
The donations highlight the growing role of digital currencies in philanthropy, as the industry rallies to address one of California’s worst natural disasters.
