Catenaa, Tuesday, June 10, 2025- More than 32,000 merchants worldwide now accept Crypto payments, marking a dramatic shift in global commerce, according to a new report released Thursday by Foresight Ventures.

The venture capital firm’s study, titled “Beyond Payments: Building the Financial OS for Global Commerce,” outlines how crypto-native payment models are reshaping traditional infrastructure, reducing costs, and broadening financial access amid rising adoption.

The report highlights a surge in global crypto usage, with ownership reaching 660 million users in 2025. Payment providers like Binance Pay and Coinbase Commerce have processed over $1.5 billion in transactions, offering merchants near-instant settlements with flat 1% fees whichis far lower than fees levied by traditional financial systems.

Binance Pay’s partnership with xMoney helped scale its merchant network from 12,000 to 32,000 within three months, underscoring the power of channel-based expansion strategies.

Foresight’s findings also detail how custodial, non-custodial, and hybrid models offer trade-offs in regulatory compliance, operational complexity and user experience.

Stablecoin-first strategies, using assets like USDC, are also gaining traction due to their pricing stability and simplified reconciliation process.

The report further underscores a pivot in monetization models, with payment platforms embracing cross-product revenue streams including treasury management, FX optimization and embedded credit solutions.

Crypto payment ecosystems are maturing rapidly, transforming from transactional tools into comprehensive platforms that rival traditional finance on speed, cost and flexibility.
