Boston, Massachusetts, Thursday, February 29, 2024– Licensed Money Transmitter Circle Internet Financial declared on February 21, 2024, that they would gradually cease support for USDC on the TRON blockchain and would not further stamp out USDC on TRON.
It said that the decision to cease support for USDC on TRON was implemented to execute the enterprise-wide strategy in Circle to secure USDC transparency, aiming to make USDC the most prominent regulated digital dollar on the internet.
Circle also noted that they would support the USDC transactions made by Circle Mint customers on any other blockchain until February 2025. Retail users and non-Circle customers are eligible to move their USDC on TRON to another USDC-supported blockchain, either for exchange or distribution. “Though Circle Mint customers can either transfer USDC to another blockchain or redeem TRON as fiat currency with Circle, transferring USDC on TRON from Circle Mint to external wallets will not be supported,” Circle reported. 1
