Catenaa, Sunday, April 27, 2025-A new blockchain-powered initiative aiming to decentralize artificial general intelligence (AGI) development is gaining traction, with developers emphasizing transparency, democratization and data sovereignty.
The project, detailed Monday by Cryptonews, promises to shift the AGI race away from Big Tech dominance by allowing contributors across the globe to participate in training, deploying, and refining AGI models using blockchain-based incentives. The decentralized AGI drive enables users to contribute data and computing power in exchange for crypto rewards, all governed by smart contracts.
At the core of the initiative is a distributed data infrastructure that ensures contributors retain ownership and visibility over their data. The system leverages decentralized storage solutions and proof-of-contribution algorithms to ensure transparent training of AGI models.
While details remain sparse on the developers and governance structure, industry analysts say the move could mark a pivotal shift in AGI research, especially amid rising concerns about ethical oversight and data concentration in AI development.
Rachel Wolfson, a longtime crypto and Web3 journalist, called the initiative “a critical inflection point” in bridging blockchain with frontier AI. “This decentralized AGI approach ensures open participation and verifiable data integrity, key to trust in future AGI systems,” she noted.
The project is expected to release a technical white paper and tokenomics framework later this quarter.
