Catenaa, Monday, April 07- Kristin Smith, CEO of the Blockchain Association, will step down from her role to become president of the newly launched Solana Policy Institute, starting May 19.

The Solana Policy Institute, a non-partisan nonprofit, was unveiled Monday as lawmakers accelerate efforts to regulate digital assets. The organization aims to influence policy on stablecoins, market structure, and blockchain technology.

Smith, who has led the Blockchain Association since 2019, has played a key role in advocating for the industry, defending against restrictive regulations, and building a broad coalition of crypto firms, including Coinbase and a16zcrypto.

Miller Whitehouse-Levine, the institute’s executive director, emphasized the need for education on blockchain policy. “Right now, people hear crypto and think only of Bitcoin.

But the ecosystem has evolved significantly, with applications far beyond just digital currency,” he said.

Smith will leave the Blockchain Association on May 16, and the organization has begun the search for her successor.
