Bitwise files with SEC for spot ETH ETF listing featured

Mumbai, Tuesday, April 16, 2024 – Asset management firm Bitwise had reportedly filed for a spot Ethereum ETF from the SEC in the US on March 28. 1

This follows favorable past records of Bitcoin funds along with the recent approvals of spot Bitcoin ETFs.

The application of Bitwise has been made, while several ETH ETF applications like Grayscale, VanEck, BlackRock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, and Invesco Galaxy are also expecting SEC approvals. 2

A value of more than $10 billion in AUM has been obtained by both BlakcRock’s IBIT and Fidelity’s FBTC, being prominent among the rest.

It is assumed that the SEC would meet with security issues with the ETH transformation into a proof-of-stake blockchain, resulting in a delay in approving ETH spot ETFs in the US, while experts seem to be disagreeing on many aspects.

The deadline for approving or denying the three-spot ETH ETF on SEC will be in May.
