Catenaa, Sunday, April 13, 2025-The Babylon Foundation has announced plans for a token generation event (TGE) to airdrop 600 million BABY tokens to early supporters. The event will distribute 6% of the total supply of BABY, which has a maximum limit of 10 billion tokens. The distribution will be allocated across five categories, including phase-1 stakers, GitHub contributors, and Pioneer Pass NFT holders.

This airdrop comes as part of the larger tokenomics plan for Babylon’s Bitcoin staking protocol, which combines Bitcoin’s security with a new proof-of-stake staking model, the Bitcoin Secured Network (BSN). BABY tokens will function as a native currency within the Babylon Genesis Chain for transaction fees, governance, staking, and security. Stakers can lock up either BTC or BABY to secure the network, earning rewards in the form of BABY tokens.

The Babylon Foundation has also reserved 15% of the token supply for community incentives and 18% each for ecosystem building and operations. The team, advisors, and early private-round investors have received significant allocations, subject to vesting schedules.

Although Babylon has not confirmed the start date for the airdrop, exchanges like OKX have already listed pre-market futures for BABY. The protocol has raised significant capital, including $70 million in a funding round led by Paradigm, with contributions from Hashkey Capital and Polychain Capital. Babylon has already secured over 51,900 BTC in user deposits, valued at over $4.2 billion.
