Catenaa, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – Auxerre is stepping into the future of finance, becoming the first city in France to integrate Bitcoin payments across local businesses.
Starting January 31, more than 40 merchants in the city center will accept Bitcoin, thanks to a collaboration with the CryptoXR team, ahead of the highly anticipated Web3 event.
The initiative will include a variety of establishments, from clothing stores to restaurants and bars, all eager to embrace the future of digital payments.
CryptoXR, which has garnered significant attention for its role in advancing Web3 technology, is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the city. After a successful turnout of more than 3,000 attendees in the previous year, this year’s event promises to be even larger, featuring more speakers, exhibitors, and workshops.
Notable figures, including crypto influencer Hasheur and hacker Rabin des Bois, are set to speak, covering topics ranging from cryptocurrency to the ecological impact of Web3.
The city’s new initiative to accept Bitcoin aims to demonstrate the practical uses of cryptocurrency in everyday life. Visitors will be able to pay for meals, purchase gifts, and even get tattoos using Bitcoin, as Auxerre establishes itself as a leading reference for blockchain technology in France.
With its commitment to blockchain adoption and Web3 innovation, Auxerre hopes to lead the way for other cities in the country.
CryptoXR will be held at AuxerrExpo on January 31 and February 1, 2025. Tickets are available, with student discounts and competitive pricing ensuring accessibility for all.
