Catenaa, Saturday, July 12, 2025-AB DAO and the AB Charity Foundation have unveiled plans to develop the world’s first national-level blockchain-themed resort in Timor-Leste, marking a major step in combining decentralized technology with global tourism and philanthropy.
Spanning 300,000 square meters along the country’s coast, the Timor-Leste AB Resort will serve as a global hub for blockchain and artificial intelligence research, education, and enterprise incubation.
The first phase of construction, covering 26,000 square meters, is set for completion within 18 months.
The resort will offer facilities for conferences, academic seminars, and innovation labs. AB DAO plans to host blockchain startups, AI teams, research institutions, and digital nomads, fostering a decentralized ecosystem in a purpose-built, luxury environment.
Guests will have access to cryptocurrency-based transactions and exclusive AB token benefits, including discounted services and priority reservations.
Backed by the government of Timor-Leste, the project holds digital banking, exchange, and stablecoin licenses.
The goal is to create an on-chain financial infrastructure for real-world adoption and cross-border collaboration. A portion of the resort’s annual profits—between 5 and 10 percent—will fund charitable initiatives under the AB Charity Foundation.
Former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, who chairs the foundation, called the initiative a landmark for sustainable blockchain development.
Former Serbian President Boris Tadić, overseeing AB Chain compliance, said the resort would foster global industry cooperation and technological empowerment.
The development underscores AB DAO’s commitment to decentralized governance, economic growth, and next-generation digital innovation rooted in philanthropy.
