Catenaa, Sunday, March 23, 2025-Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has acquired an additional 150 bitcoin for $12.5 million, continuing its aggressive accumulation strategy. 

The Tokyo-listed firm announced Tuesday that the purchase brings its total bitcoin holdings to 3,200 BTC, valued at approximately $265.9 million at current market prices. The company has spent about $266.2 million on its bitcoin acquisitions to date. 

In a bid to further expand its holdings, Metaplanet also raised 2 billion yen ($13.3 million) through a bond issuance. The company aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. 

Despite its continued investment in bitcoin, Metaplanet’s stock closed down 0.49% at 4,030 yen on Tuesday. However, it has surged 15.8% year-to-date and skyrocketed 1,819% over the past year. The broader Nikkei 225 index gained 1.2% on the day.
