Catenaa, Thursday, February 13, 2025 – Pi Network has announced that its long-anticipated Open Network phase will go live on February 20, 2025, at 8:00 AM UTC, marking a pivotal moment in its six-year journey toward building a decentralized, utility-driven ecosystem.
With 10.14 million Mainnet migrations surpassing its original goal, Pi Network is now preparing to remove its firewall, allowing external blockchain connectivity. The transition enables peer-to-peer transactions beyond Pi’s enclosed ecosystem, significantly expanding its usability.
The Open Network launch follows a series of milestones, including the verification of 19 million users through Pi’s KYC solution and the integration of over 100 Mainnet-ready apps. The new phase will also introduce Know Your Business (KYB) verification for companies interacting with Pi.
Pi’s growth has been driven by community participation, including events like PiFest 2024, which saw 950,000 Pioneers engage in real-world commerce using Pi tokens. The Open Network phase is expected to further drive adoption, integrating Pi into global commerce and Web3 applications.
Developers and users are encouraged to continue mining, verify KYC, and build new applications as Pi Network shifts toward a fully decentralized ecosystem.
