New York, Tuesday, October 29, 2024-The Shiba Inu team has issued a warning about a new wave of scams targeting its community, particularly through the promotion of a fraudulent “Treat” token.
According to Shibarium Trustwatch, a watchdog group within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, scammers are using fake social media accounts and Telegram groups to deceive investors and steal personal data or funds.
The Shibarium Trustwatch team cautioned the community about a fraudulent X account posing as a Shiba Inu-affiliated project, falsely promoting services and investments related to a so-called “Treat” token.
“The team behind this has no involvement with the Shib ecosystem, and the token they’re promoting will not be used in any official Shib projects,” read the warning.
Shibarium Trustwatch advised community members to double-check all information and proceed with caution when making investment decisions.
This scam follows similar schemes aimed at the Shiba Inu community. Just last month, fake Treat tokens were used to lure potential investors, with fraudsters claiming these tokens were connected to the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The Shiba Inu team clarified that the legitimate Treat token has not yet been released and cautioned users to beware of any token claiming otherwise.
In addition the team also alerted on social media scams, highlighting growing concerns over Telegram users being targeted.
They said that the fraudsters had set up fake groups on Telegram, offering malicious airdrops meant to drain the wallets of unsuspecting members.
Community members were urged to avoid connecting their wallets to unfamiliar services or disclosing any sensitive information on these platforms.
The Shiba Inu team said that they remained vigilant, reminding its “Shibarmy” to stay alert and double-check any sources or individuals soliciting funds or personal data within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
