London, Wednesday, October 23, 2024-Craig Wright has launched a new $1 billion lawsuit, accusing Bitcoin developers of altering Bitcoin’s original vision and misleading the public.
Wright, who claims to be Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, argues that Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision (BSV) is the true Bitcoin and is seeking damages based on the difference in market value between Bitcoin (BTC) and BSV—totaling over $1.18 billion.
The lawsuit, filed in the UK High Court, claims Bitcoin Core developers deviated from the original Bitcoin protocol by implementing SegWit and Taproot upgrades.
According to Wright, these changes created market confusion, misleading users to believe that BTC remains the original Bitcoin.
The lawsuit names Bitcoin Core developers and Jack Dorsey’s Square Up Europe Limited as defendants, alleging that their actions caused financial loss by misrepresenting Bitcoin’s true nature.
Despite losing a previous case where Wright failed to prove he was Satoshi Nakamoto, he now insists that BSV deserves to be recognized as the real Bitcoin.
Legal experts remain skeptical of Wright’s latest claim, citing the decentralized nature of Bitcoin and previous court rulings that discredit his assertions.
