New York, Saturday, October 19, 2024- African stablecoin exchange Yellow Card secured $33 million in its Series C funding round, led by Blockchain Capital.
Other notable participants include Polychain Capital, Third Prime Ventures, Castle Island Ventures, Block Inc., and Winklevoss Capital. The Nigeria-based exchange has raised $85 million to date.
Yellow Card plans to use the funds to expand its operations and improve its API and widget products. This will enable international businesses like Coinbase and Block to access African markets, expanding the reach of crypto across the continent.
Yellow Card CEO Chris Maurice emphasized the importance of digital assets for African businesses, stating that the capital infusion reinforces their resilience and growth potential. The company aims to provide more seamless financial services across Africa through stablecoin access and cross-border trading.
This new round of funding marks a significant step in the company’s mission to unlock financial opportunities through blockchain technology.
