Tokyo, Friday, September 13, 2024 – Japanese gaming blockchain Oasys has partnered with SK Planet, a subsidiary of South Korea’s telecom giant SK Telecom, to increase its footprint in the South Korean market.

The collaboration aims to bring “millions of users” into the Oasys gaming ecosystem, according to a statement released by Oasys.

SK Planet, which runs the OK Cashbag membership rewards platform with 28 million users and 75,000 affiliated stores, will serve as a validator for Oasys. The partnership opens Oasys to a significant user base in South Korea. As a validator, SK Planet will allow users to stake OAS tokens directly to its node from their wallets. Additionally, SK Planet’s digital wallet, UPTN Station, is set to integrate with Oasys Hub, allowing for easier access to the blockchain’s services.

Daiki Moriyama, director of Oasys, emphasized that the partnership will boost blockchain gaming adoption, enabling developers to tap into SK Planet’s large user base through promotions and campaigns via UPTN Station.

Oasys has been active in forming alliances with South Korean industry leaders. In February, it partnered with Kakao’s web3 gaming division, Metabora SG, to support the company’s expansion into the Japanese market. The company has also collaborated with Com2uS, a South Korean game developer, to bring more games into the Oasys ecosystem.

Oasys is known for offering both Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks for game development and counts major gaming companies such as Sega, Ubisoft, and Yield Guild Games among its validators.
