CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 – SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service has expanded its reach to include connectivity for more than 1,000 aircraft worldwide, Musk announced last Wednesday on Platform X.
The milestone marks a significant advancement in in-flight Wi-Fi, offering passengers high-speed internet access for activities such as video calls, online gaming, and streaming.
Starlink has partnered with several airlines, including JSX, Hawaiian Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Zipair, to equip their fleets with the technology.
The service is compatible with various aircraft models, including Airbus A321 Neo, Bombardier Global 6000, and Embraer ERJ-135.
SpaceX plans to further expand compatibility to include Airbus A220, Boeing 737, and Bombardier Global 5000 models by the end of the year.
Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet service is a departure from the often unreliable Wi-Fi options previously available to airline passengers.
The company’s rapid expansion in the aviation sector highlights its growing dominance in the satellite internet market.
