The Sandbox Launches Meme Contest with $10K SAND Prizes

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. Monday, July 29, 2024 – The Sandbox, a leading virtual world platform, has announced a new design competition focused on memes.

The “Rise of the Memecoins” contest offers a total prize pool of 10,000 $SAND tokens to aspiring creators who design the most creative and engaging meme-inspired wearables.

The competition encourages participants to leverage The Sandbox’s user-friendly VoxEdit tool to transform popular internet memes like DOGE, SHIBA, BONK, DEGEN, and PEPE into unique and wearable voxel assets.

The competition offers a total prize pool of 10,000 $SAND tokens, distributed as follows: first place wins 2,500 $SAND, second place 1,750 $SAND, and third place 1,000 $SAND.

Participants placing fourth through tenth will each receive 250 $SAND, and all entrants will get a participation prize of 30 $SAND.

Eligibility:

The top three prize tiers require participants to be verified creators or hold a KYC (Know Your Customer) account within The Sandbox ecosystem.

Creators can achieve verification by linking their studio with a GMF account or by demonstrating a history of successful participation in past contests, with at least one top-10 placement.

The submissions for the contest are now open, and it will run until 6th August, 11:59 PM UTC. The final results of the contest is expected to be announced on 17– 18 August.

Submissions must be created using provided equipment templates and include a fully animated GIF showcasing the wearable.

Entries require completion of a Google Form with relevant information.

Participants can share their creations on Twitter by tagging @VoxEdit and @TheSandboxGame with the hashtags #VoxEdit and #RiseOfTheMemes.

The Sandbox reserves the right to disqualify submissions deemed low-effort, spam, or plagiarized. Additionally, entries containing offensive or discriminatory content will be barred from the competition.

The Sandbox said that all entries must be original creations.

The use of copyrighted characters or assets from entities like Marvel, Sega, Disney, Nintendo, etc., is prohibited.

The Sandbox’s VoxEdit tool is mandatory for creating entries.
